One of the most important — and often overlooked — parts of compositing is matching the lighting direction, shadow behavior, and perspective between your added element and the original footage. This lesson covers how to analyze the light source in a shot (direction, color temperature, softness) and replicate it on any added elements, along with adding realistic shadows and reflections where needed. Getting this right is often what separates a composite that looks professional from one that looks obviously “pasted in.”
